Somewhere on the shore of the St-Lawrence River, snuggled deep in the pine scented woods, sits a cozy yellow house and a small white barn. There, in the cold and snowy months of winter, Julie is knitting her famous striped socks. These socks are colourful, lightweight, soft, fun to wear and when they are finished, each pair is rolled into a small wooden crate.
Original and inexpensive, they make a perfect gift of warmth and elegance - a gift that comes straight from the heart.
In the 1950's, a small crafts shop opened its doors in Charlevoix and quickly became the favourite of the wealthy American families who spent their summers in the region. It specialized in colourful striped socks. Everyone who was anyone had their "Murray Bay socks".
Eventually the Duke of Windsor, a regular guest of the Berlin family from New York, discovered the socks and wore them with pride. He was even photographed wearing his "Murray Bay socks" in Time magazine.
The socks became a popular item among the rich and famous of America and Europe.
Inspired by the original "Murray Bay socks", "Les bas de Julie" are made with the finest quality pure wool here in Charlevoix.
